Sometimes we think we want something but the reality of it doesn’t match expectations. Let’s dive into your top career/business choices to look at the actual reality of them and whether or not they will create a source of income for you. Some ideas are meant to remain hobbies and some careers aren’t as aligned to your values as they may appear on the surface.
Design the life you want and believe it’s possible. As Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right.” Determine how you want your career to fit in with your life, including how many hours you want to work, where you work from, and what you spend your days doing.
Create the mindset shifts required to know that that this is possible for you. This includes researching and identifying those who have done it before you, looking at how it was done; and overcoming your limiting beliefs and anything that may be holding you back from achieving your goals.
Talk to people in the field you want to go in. If you’re looking to start a business, interview them to find out what they’re looking for. If you’re keen to pivot your career, discuss with people that work in this field to get the lowdown on the steps you need to take to proceed, where the roles are and whether your specific strengths will fit.
This is the final step because unless you know where you want to go, how can you get there?
Finding clarity is often the hardest part. Once you have a solid idea of what you want to do and you’ve done your homework around the viability of it, THEN you can create a plan to bring your vision to life.
